The mother of the protagonist, Sachie Wakamura, passes away, and as a result, Sachie is sent to live at the home of a relative since she has no other close family members. The thing is, this relative, her grandfather to be precise, is the leader of a yakuza gang! Sachie’s new, strange family makes it difficult for Sachie to live her previously normal life, and she also struggles to keep them a secret from her school. To top things off, her grandfather has Rakuto, one of the gang members, serve as her bodyguard, and Rakuto happens to be the most popular guy at Sachie’s school!

Wild Ones employs the following tropes. Aborted Declaration of Love; Abusive Parents: Rakuto's parents are kind of shitty, as far as parents go.Especially the mom.Christ, what kind of parent tells their son she can't go to his school play because she's got better things to do and routinely calls him 'worthless'? And this all happens when Rakuto's in kindergarden.
How in the world is Sachie supposed to live her life now?In terms of the plot, the manga doesn't have too much originality. It’s very common for the main character to be sent to live with a family member because they lose their parents. Apparently, there are also other shoujo manga in which the girl is sent to live with a yakuza gang, but I’ve never read one of those before so this was new to me.:joy. The bodyguard thing is definitely not new, though.
You can find quite a few in which the protagonist falls in love with her bodyguard.Going into the romance, I think that's what makes up most of the manga besides the protagonist living with a gang. At first, the romance didn't have a huge impression on me, because it seemed as if Sachie's caretaker simply fell in love with her immediately. It turned out, however, that this was not the case, so I became okay with it later. The main couple also got really cute so it grew on me:twohearts. Sachie Wakamura is your typical strong-willed protagonist. She would easily spot if someone was trouble and wouldn’t be afraid to pack a punch if needed.

I guess this was supposed to be seen as courageous, but sometimes I felt that she seemed rather impulsive at times:sweat:. The sensible thing to do would be to think a bit about what was best to do in that certain situation, and Sachie would often just immediately jump in and assert dominance. However, she was very good-natured. She would always lend a helping hand and often inspired others. Even so, I didn’t find her particularly remarkable compared to protagonists I have seen in other shoujo manga. Rakuto Igarashi is the main love interest in this series, and he kind of shares a lot of similarities with male love interests in other shoujo manga. First of all, he clearly matches the image of a prince:crown: - he’s extremely mature, well-mannered, and not to mention a gentleman as well.
Second, he’s the most popular guy at their school; he always has his locker filled with tons of chocolates from girls when it comes to Valentine’s Day. He also serves as the president of the student council and is talented at everything, either sports-related or academic. He’s that shoujo male that’s just unnaturally perfect in every single way.:joy. Azuma Inui later joins the household due to certain family circumstances. He is shown to hold romantic feelings for Sachie. I didn't really feel that he was a strong love rival because I didn't understand why he liked Sachie so much. He ends up going to the same school as Sachie and Rakuto and is also quite popular, but not as much as Rakuto.
Rakuto's perfection constantly overshadows Azuma and makes him super competitive against Rakuto.Rating: 7/10As far as shoujo manga goes, I didn’t really find this manga to be very spectacular. It didn’t seem to bring much of anything new to the table for me, and I kind of feel as if I didn’t truly like it until the last couple of chapters. I wouldn't say it was a huge waste, though. The manga is inspirational and also had some funny parts to it.
